Art Education in Crafts Field -- How to Cultivate the Spirit of Craftsmanship?

Associate Professor, Master's Supervisor, member of China Building Decoration Association, member of China Arts and Crafts Society, director of the Digital Image Creative Committee of the China Video Industry Association, head of the national first-class undergraduate course, and currently the Vice Dean of the College of Art (College of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage) at Beijing Union University.

Thierry Plante-Dubé is an eclectic cultural manager who has worked in classical music, festivals, tourism, contemporary dance, and private education. For over 7 years, he has been the CEO of the Maison des métiers d'art de Québec (MMAQ)and the Institut québécois d'ébénisterie (IQE), offering advanced training in fine crafts. Since 2023, he has also led the Centre Materia, the only state-funded center supporting contemporary fine crafts creation. He is a member of SODEC and chairs the coordination committee of the National Training Plan in Fine Crafts (PNFMA).

Wang Xiaoxin is an experimental artist, researcher, and curator in the field of craftsmanship, and he is currently the associate professor of the Department of Arts and Crafts, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, as well as the Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Metal Arts Committee of the China Arts and Crafts Association. He is committed to exploring synergies between new techniques and traditional means of making things and continues to explore the aesthetic sensibilities, narrative styles, and ethical values that lie behind this synergy. His artworks have been collected by top museums, such as the National Museum of China and the China Traditional Culture Museum.
